Part of the Landscape Maintenance Program

Mulch installation is included in Royal Oak’s Landscape Maintenance Program and isn’t offered as a standalone service. We assess the property before putting the program together so the work reflects what’s actually going on in the beds and around the yard.
What We Offer

Mulch Installation That Does More Than Just Look Good

Most people think of mulch as the finishing touch that polishes a yard. It does that, but it also does a lot of work underneath, keeping moisture in the soil, blocking weeds, and protecting plant roots from summer heat and winter cold. Royal Oak Landscape delivers and installs mulch for homeowners along the Connecticut shoreline, so you get all of that without hauling a single bag yourself.

Why Choose Us

The Value of Royal Oak Landscape

A mulching service that just dumps mulch on top of old material and calls it done isn’t doing the job properly. Old mulch that breaks down into a compacted layer can hold too much moisture and suffocate plant roots when new mulch is piled on top. Royal Oak checks the existing beds before adding anything new.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does mulch installation cost?
Mulch installation cost depends on how many beds need to be covered, how much mulch is needed, and whether any old material needs to be turned or removed first. After seeing the property, we provide a flat number so you know exactly what you’re paying before we start.
Most beds benefit from a fresh layer once a year, typically in spring after the cleanup is done. Some beds hold up longer, depending on the mulch type and how much sun and rain they get throughout the season.
Two to three inches is the sweet spot for most beds. Less than that and it dries out too fast and doesn’t block weeds effectively. More than three inches and it can trap too much moisture around plant stems and roots.
Not always. If the existing layer has broken down evenly and isn’t too thick, we top it off. If it’s matted, compacted, or way too deep, we pull some out before adding the new material. We check before we start.
Buying mulch yourself means renting a truck, hauling it, spreading it, and cleaning up the mess. Mulch delivery and installation means it arrives loaded and goes straight into the beds. For most homeowners, the time saved is worth it.
Yes, and it’s actually a good idea. Mulching right after new trees, shrubs, or perennials go in helps lock in moisture when plants need it most.
